Side extension day 4
No work was done today as the concrete was left to set properly. We did however have a delivery and a very excited little boy!
Side extension day 3
The concrete foundations were poured. We're starting to get a feel for how big the rooms are going to be.
Side extension day 2
So the final leg of the foundations were dug and building control came out to inspect. They were happy with the depth of the trench considering we'd hit clay. One small snag - the water main into the house got caught whilst digging... It didnt rupture but did squash the pipe the point it significantly dropped the water pressure in the house. The biggest challenge was trying to find the main stop-tap for our supply; several hours of searching and a phone call to the water company later, it turns out we don't have one!! Luckily we managed to un-squeeze the pipe and all was well.
Side extension day 1
We came home from work to find the hedge missing and a big hole where the back and side of the extension will be. A productive day!
Side Extension Before Shots...
So the side extension work has finally begun after three years in the house. There are only a handful of rooms we've not yet decorated and thats because they're going to be disrupted when we break through from the main house into the extension. Here are the before shots:
