So the final leg of the foundations were dug and building control came out to inspect. They were happy with the depth of the trench considering we'd hit clay. One small snag - the water main into the house got caught whilst digging... It didnt rupture but did squash the pipe the point it significantly dropped the water pressure in the house. The biggest challenge was trying to find the main stop-tap for our supply; several hours of searching and a phone call to the water company later, it turns out we don't have one!! Luckily we managed to un-squeeze the pipe and all was well.
